Blastocyst cultivation

Cultivation of the embryo in  In Vitro fertilization program occurs on the third day following  the puncture and  several  6-8  cell embryos are transferred into the uterus. When a couple  on the third day have several good quality embryos  cultivation is prolonged for another 5-6 days until they reach blastocyst stage. Advantage of this procedure is to ensure much better   selection of  fertilized eggs with  much better chance of  pregnancy.

Blastocyst cultivation also  decreases the risk of multiple pregnancy - as in the presence of a blastocyt with the highest implantation potential there is no need to transfer several embryos into the womb to increase the likelihood of pregnancy
